Hurricane season is from June 1st to November 30th. The majority of Hurricanes occur from August to October.

Every homeowner should be prepared for Hurricane Season since no one can predict exactly where the storms will hit or miss.

Following you will find items for Emergency kits and things you can do to prepare your home for an impending storm.

Prepare a Room

Almost every home has at least one interior room. That is a room where none of the walls are shared with the outside. The most common interior rooms are
bathrooms and closets.

Somewhere in that interior room you should store the following:

• Battery powered flashlight, TV or radio and extra batteries.
• Pillows, blankets, extra clothes like sweats and such which can also be used to cover oneself or double as a pillow or blanket, sleeping bag and/ or cushions.
• 2 weeks worth of food, snacks and water (at least 1 gallon of water per person a day).
• Books, magazines, games and toys for entertainment.
• Important papers or documents in a strong box- birth certificates, marriage license etc.
